Fear: friend or enemy?

Fear. Remember something important: a man is born with only two fears. The fear of loud noises and the fear of falling. All other fears are our inheritance from experiences, images, memories and beliefs throughout our lives.

Overcoming an intense fear is not simple. But when you do and look back, you'll see that it wasn't as big as you felt at the time. By overcoming fears and inner blocks, you come closer to the essence of your being, to that inexhaustibly free nature of yours.

  1. Recognize your fear. The first step to overcoming fear is to identify what you are afraid of. This may involve some self-reflection and introspection. Try to understand what triggers your fear, how it affects you and when it started.
  2. Once you have identified your fear, try to find out about it. This can help you demystify the fear and reduce its power over you. For example, if you are afraid of flying, read about how planes work and how safe air travel is.
  3. Take small steps: Start with small steps by facing your fear in a safe and controlled way. This may mean exposing yourself to your fear in a gradual way, such as looking at pictures of spiders if you are afraid of them. Gradually increase the exposure as you become more comfortable.
  4. Use relaxation techniques: Fear can cause anxiety, so learning relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation or yoga can help you manage your fear response and reduce anxiety.
  5. Seek support: It's okay to ask for help when you're facing fear. Communicate the issue to friends, family or a mental health professional for support and guidance. Joining a support group can also help you connect with others who are dealing with similar fears.
  6. When you're ready, take a deep breath and go against your fear. Do exactly what you are most afraid of. And how do you know? Somewhere in there, the greatness of your power will be revealed to you.
