Fasting and nutrition

Fasting is an important factor in maintaining good health, as well as in the development of mental and spiritual functions of humans, thanks to the antioxidants and vitamins that fasting foods provide. It is an excellent opportunity to give our body a boost and provide it with a much needed detoxification.

During such periods we discover all the benefits of fasting and new ways to eat more healthily and properly in our daily lives.

Some of the benefits of fasting are:

  1. Reduction of total and LDL-cholesterol

2. Correlation with lower levels of depression, anxiety and better cognitive function

3. Better food quality

4. Reducing blood pressure

So it is clear that along with the important benefit to our spiritual health, fasting can also benefit our general health.

Below you will find a delicious and nutritious recipe that you can use during a fasting period or not.

Open toast with chickpeas

For snacks/ quick lunch or dinner

Quantity depending on how hungry you are!

Toast slices of bread (wholemeal/oat/gluten) in the oven, toaster or toaster oven

Mash the chickpeas with a fork, add tahini, lemon/apple cider vinegar, a little mustard, a little salt, optional garlic powder and mix to combine.

Mash some avocado with a fork and spread it on your bread.

Add green leafy vegetables, some sun-dried tomatoes and the chickpea mixture.
