Iro Gioka

Trainer

I am Iro Gioka, Physical Education teacher, trained at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, specializing in Outdoor Sports & Recreation Activities, as well as a certified Yoga 500hrs teacher by the World Yoga Alliance USA.

From a young age I dedicated myself to the field of sports and movement, with years of experience and training in swimming, Japanese martial arts (aikido, iaido, jodo), various types of dance (Indian, contemporary, latin, oriental), archery, pilates, and since 2009 in yoga, climbing and mountaineering. My main occupation since childhood has also been music, in which I continued my studies to obtain a degree in harmony.

I have completed my yoga trainings at Anahata Yoga Academy with my teacher and mentor Elena Mouratidou. I have attended numerous seminars and workshops from internationally renowned teachers, mainly in Ashtanga and Dharma Yoga (Kino MacGregor, Dharma Mittra, David Swenson, Manju Jois, Vairagya Ranko, Yiannis Andritsos, Emi Tull, Kristina Karitinos- Ireland etc.).

I have also attended 7-day workshops/trainings with Elena Mouratidou (Transform Your Life), Manju Jois (Ashtanga Adjustments), Christina Karytinou-Ireland & Hyon Gak Sunim (Ashtanga & Zen Meditation), and Peter Clifford (Anahata Yoga).

As a child of nature and a lover of adventure activities, I have also been trained in climbing and mountaineering through certified schools of the Greek Federation of Mountaineering- Climbing Clubs. I have made many climbing and mountaineering trips all over Greece and in European countries (France, Italy, Austria, Slovenia).

I have worked in yoga/pilates studios in Thessaloniki and Aridaia, and I have worked with alternative tourism companies in Halkidiki, Sivota and Lefkada as a yoga, pilates, SUP/SUP yoga, fitness instructor and as a massage therapist.

My main goal through the classes and excursions that I organize is to bring people in direct contact with nature, and through yoga and the underground activities to experience the connection, joy, energy, evolution and inner harmony of the Self.

Gentle Yoga Flow & Yoga Nidra

A combination of conscious movement in flow, breathing and deep relaxation, through yoga postures that cultivate flexibility and soften tension. The class concludes with Yoga Nidra, a meditative form of deep relaxation in the supine position that contributes to physical recovery and stress relief. Ideal for all levels, this class cultivates a sense of calm, balance and rejuvenation.
